What is BOTOX?

BOTOX is brand name injectable neurotoxin produced by Allergan that can be used for both medical and aesthetic treatments. BOTOX has been used for over a decade thanks to non-permanent effects and little to no side effects.

Why get BOTOX?

Our patients get BOTOX for many reasons but the most common reasons to get BOTOX include:

  • Soften or remove dynamic lines of forehead, frown lines, crows feet

  • Skin appears brighter & smoother

  • Improve any asymmetries of lips, eyebrows, or eyelids

  • Repeat injections injections can prevent new wrinkles from forming over time

  • Improves your mood! Studies have shown individuals who receive Botox reported depression less often than their counterparts (1)

How old do you have to be to get BOTOX?

There’s no right answer as it only depends on when you feel comfortable. We have helped a wide range of patients.

Does BOTOX hurt?

The pain with botox is minimal. We use a very small gauge needle that feels synonymous to a small prick. Depending on the individual, some areas are more sensitive than others. For most, the anticipation of the needle is the worst part.

How much is BOTOX?

The amount of units you will need depends on your age, skin, and area you would like to treat such as frown lines, crow’s feet, forehead, eyebrows or lips. The best way to figure out units is to schedule a consultation.

How long does BOTOX last?

The timeframe for which botox lasts varies person to person. Most individuals will have results that last anywhere from 2-4 months. There are up to 10% of individuals who do not metabolize botox, and in this case, would need to try a different neurotoxin, such as Dysport or Xeomin.

How long until I see results from BOTOX?

Like most things with botox, this is variable. Most individuals will start to notice results after 2-6 days, although for some people this can take more time. At 2 weeks, your botox will have completely settled and this will be what you get to experience for the subsequent 2-4 months

How long before an event should I get BOTOX?

If you are new to botox - or new to an injector - we recommend 4 weeks prior to an event. This way, you have the opportunity to come back for an adjustment prior to the event. If you are someone who has gotten botox before & you know what your typical treatment is, 2 weeks prior to the event is appropriate.

How many injections will I receive?

The number of injections depends on the area and the individual. The forehead lines are typically 5 injections. The “11s,” or glabella, can range anywhere from 3-6 injections. Crows feet are the most variable and can be anywhere from 1-6+ injections per side. It is important to understand that this is going to be individualized per each client in order to meet your specific aesthetic goals.

Will my face look overdone or frozen from BOTOX?

No :) There are certainly individuals who prefer minimal movement, or to have a “frozen” appearance. Here at Worcester Botox, we strive for individualized, natural looking results. You can see some results on our treatments page or on our Instagram.

Is BOTOX safe?

Yes. There are very few contraindications to getting botox; the few included are if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or if you have had an allergic reaction to botox in the past.

Is BOTOX permanent?

No. Your body will completely metabolize botox from anywhere to 2-4 months. If you choose not to continue, your facial muscles will start to move again back to your baseline.
